What Is Nirmala UI?
Nirmala UI is Microsoft's official Hindi display font. It shipped with Windows 8 in 2012 and has been the default Devanagari font on Windows 10 and Windows 11 ever since.

Does the Source Font Matter?
No. This is the part most people get wrong.
Nirmala UI, Mangal, Kokila, Arial Unicode MS, Aparajita, and Gargi are all different visual styles for the same underlying Unicode data. They all store Hindi using Devanagari code points U+0900 to U+097F.
The font name only changes how text looks on your screen. The data underneath is identical.

Why can't I just change the font to KrutiDev in MS Word?
